I seek .. and surprisingly, continue to find remarkably unique and exquisite performance spaces scattered about my Northeast US bailiwick .. these places are special in both the beautifully artistic ambience, in equal part museum, head shop, pawn shop, flea market, art gallery, attic, reading room, Algonquin round-table, as well as in their embodiment and self-expression of their most lovely proprietors.

Flourish is such a place. The welcome one receives upon arrival both elevates the experience to the austere level of a fine concert air, while at the same time bringing it all back “down-home”.

It’s a true privilege that I am to return here for a 2019 encore appearance.

Flourish is a magical listening room … I love playing magical listening rooms.

A part of the world I rarely get to visit, but with which I have a rich past. I hope some of the woodwork folks who’s lovely presence I have long since enjoyed will make it out for some tunes & reunification.

Vermont based acclaimed Folk Duo, Laura Heaberlin & Taylor Smith. bring their “Indie folk with Soul & Intellect” to the magical Listening Room at Flourish!

Listeners have lauded their songs “an astonishing mix of original lyrics and arrangements that reward the casual listener, as well as those who choose to lean forward and roll them around like great pieces of literature and composition” and an “unlikely combination of the gothic, the literary, and the hummable.”

“Their songs on indecision, love & perseverance, seem timeless.”

“Spellbinding storytelling.” – Red Line Roots

“You’re lulled in by the sweetness of their melodies that are reminiscent of traditional Appalachian folk or literary indie rock like Andrew Bird and find yourself suddenly surprised by the epiphanies that their songs so often crescendo to.”
– B-Side

With spellbinding vocals and the songs to match, Drew is one of those rare gems who can bring a crowd to laughter and tears in the same set!

Singer-Songwriter/ Indie-folk / Americana, Drew is no newcomer to the Maine music scene, between 2005 and 2010 her work with A Moving Train received several nominations in the Portland Phoenix Best of Music polls, including Best Female Vocalist, and hit international radar with mentions in Jazz Times and Keyboard Magazine. Drew recently received a nomination in the coveted Best in State category of the 2019 New England Music Awards and will once again attend the semi-finals of the 2019 Maine Songwriter’s Association Annual Songwriting Contest.

“Drew’s vocals have a stirring, ancient quality to them…You just want to sit there spellbound.”— Aimsel Ponti – Portland Press Herald, 2015
